Location

Situated in the sun drenched resort of Los Cristianos, on the south coast of Tenerife (enjoying average temperatures of 21 degrees C and low atmospheric pressure - making it one of the healthiest climates in the World), The Mar Y Sol is located just 350m from the promenade (where you can wheel/stroll for miles) and 900m from the town centre.

Terrain

The shortest route to the seafront is steep and may therefore be difficult for manual wheelchair users to negotiate without assistance. A complimentary accessible transfer service to and from the beach is now available five times a week, twice daily. Less demanding but longer routes to the beach are an option and electric scooters and chairs are available for rent. Sea front paseo is relatively flat and stretches all the way to the neighbouring resort of Playa de Las Americas.

Accommodation

Accommodation is now available in various standards and sizes due to the completion of their new and upgraded accommodation block, all providing everything you will need for a successful holiday in the Canary Islands. The Mar y Sol Aparthotel offers three different types of showerchair's for use in the roll-in shower's. These do need to be prebooked at the time of booking and are free of charge, there is the choice of a static chair, a shower chair on 4 small wheels and a self propel shower chair.

The one-bedroom-apartments sleep up to four people with twin beds plus a living area containing twin rollaway sofa beds. The bathroom with wheel-in shower and/or bath (no grab rails). Small integral kitchenette. Balcony or patio area.

Superior apartments are fully accessible renovated one bedroom apartments with twin beds plus a living area containing twin rollaway sofa beds. Bathroom with wheel-in shower and grab rails at WC. Small integral kitchenette. Balcony or patio area. Superior apartments have more grab rails in the bathroom and are more spacious than standard apartments.

Premium one bedrom apartments are equipped the same as the superior apartments however they are much more spacious and have large terraces or balconies, mainly sea facing and in the new build. All premium apartments are equipped with a wheel-in shower with grab rails at the shower and toilet.

Studios sleeping two in the living area on twin rollaway sofa beds but no separate bedroom are also available. These are equppied with the same facilities as the standard apartments.

Superior studios are available, and are equipped with wheel-in shower with grab rails at the shower and toilet. These studios are very spacious and again within the new build so brand new.

The last option is a comfort room, this room has twin or double bed with sofa beds also. the bathroom again as in the new build is fully equipped with wheel-in shower with grab rails at the shower and toilet areas.

Facilities

The pool area consists of two swimming pools and one therapy (treatment) pool. The water temperature of the heated pool is kept at 32 degrees C throughout the whole year, and provides neck-showers (back of the neck), whirl, water cascades, jacuzzis and massage showers. The second swimming pool has a water temperature between 22 degrees C and 25 degrees C, depending on the season and is especially popular with swimmers. Both the swimming pools have a pool hoist. The therapy pool has a temperature of 24 degrees C and is designed for walking exercises. Scuba diving lessons are available with expert instructors either at the pool or in the sea, also available on site is the fantastic rehabilition centre. Please enquire for further information and prices.  We are also able to arrange golfing holidays or simply just a days golfing at the Amarilla Golf club when staying at the Mar y Sol, here you can make use of their adapted golf buggies and golf clubs!

Out and About

Los Cristianos and its bustling neighbour, Playa de Las Americas are genuine holiday playgrounds offering virtually unlimited daytime and nightime activity, restaurants, bars, and clubs. Of course, for those who prefer to relax by the pool or on the beach, there is the option of doing absolutely nothing! Accessible excursions operate several days a week and include an Island Tour, Mount Teide Volcano and Loro Parque. We strongly recommend advanced booking of these excursions.
