Eria Resort, Crete -

Thank you so much Ian and Jill for this fabulous review of the Eria Resort in Crete. We think it is pretty special and we are glad you love it to!

"We wanted to thank you and Accessible Travel for what has been an amazing holiday experience in Crete. We were both apprehensive about undertaking such a holiday with Jill's severe disability - we need not have worried, everything was taken care of.

The Sofitel experience at Gatwick made the beginning of the holiday so easy - the room was great, car parking a doddle (and the car remained all week on the disabled space), and we were taken on time straight into the airport, where help was available at every stage of the way to the aircraft.

EasyJet's service is really to be commended. Nothing was too much trouble and they were patient and attentive to Jill's needs, especially on the return flight when she cut her arm in the toilet. At Chania airport an individual truck with a hoist saw us safely off the plane in Jill's own wheelchair into the Terminal. There George our driver was waiting to help Jill out into the minibus with its hoist.

As Jill said we could not believe the Eria Resort Hotel could possibly be as good as portrayed in your brochure - it was even better!  Dimanto the Manager welcomed us warmly herself and took us to our room. Everything has been thought out in the hotel so well - it is a delightfully designed complex and the staff understand the needs of the disabled traveller perfectly.

Nothing was too much trouble. When asked if I'd slept well and I said I found the bed a bit hard - the mattress was changed within minutes! When we had a conversation with Diamanto about getting down to the village in Jill's push wheelchair - she offered us a free "test drive" for a couple of hours in one of the electric scooters which we used gladly.

The food is excellent - and the way it is served makes it accessible to wheelchair users. The pleasant atmosphere makes it easy to speak to other guests -from all over Europe. On our last evening there was a pianist and guests were invited to sing - then the atmosphere relaxed and we all enjoyed ourselves - never thought I'd see myself dancing with a Dutchman in a wheelchair!

The care taken on excursions was detailed and helpful. We were taken to Chania one day for an outing on our own - given a map and told where the disabled loos were, and which streets were accessible - and then met on time and brought back to the hotel.  The day all the guests went to the beach was amazing - everyone helped each other and Yannis who drive the bus kept busy ensuring everyone's safety and comfort.

All in all it has been an unforgettable experience. Accessible Travel is to be congratulated on finding such a marvelous hotel, and on your detailed arrangements for travel.

Thank you again for a superb holiday.

With warmest good wishes

Ian and Jill Coomber"
